ElsaSisters Goes to Belitung | Explore Belitung [Day 3]

Sunrise at Kaolin Lake

Sunrise at Kaolin Lake

Early in the morning MidSis and LilSis went to Tanjung Kelayang Beach to start their ISLANDS HOPPING! The second day was the most fun and interesting. Read more about our second day visit to Belitung here

Everybody woke up around 5 AM, and decided to watch the sunrise. Some were wondering if they were too late and some were wondering when is the time for sun rise? When they headed out from their hotel, the chicken had crowed. And once again some wondered if they’re too late.

Well, after a high-speed driving, we could arrived on time. Perhaps earlier. Lucky us, that day the sun was quite late (?) because it was going to rain, so we got to see the sunrise. But in fact it never rained.

We really adore this former kaolin mines. It was very sad, actually, to see how the mining company neglected this mine and didn’t make it up. But it was quite amusing too to see the water that filled this mine turning into aqua color and reflect the sky above it. Btw, Kaolin Lake is the great and the best (I guess) place to see sunrise. You will see how the sun rise perfectly just like what we saw. P.S : Sunrise is around 5.30 AM

Cuncun Restaurant

We decided to stroll around the traditional market near our hotel. At first we wanted to eat songsui at Ote Restaurant, but it was closed during the day. So we had a short chat with some local people where to eat songsui and they gave us this restaurant which is located near Buddhist temple. It was run by a man whom-from what we heard-is Ote’s owner sibling.

Songsui

Songsui

Talking about their songsui. It was the best songsui ever. For you who don’t know, songsui is Bangka traditional food. It consist pig stomach content and topped with fried pork skin which was the best. The broth was perfectly made hence the taste was rich and not too salty. We really love it! For the fish meatballs, it was delicious too but just like other fish meatballs.

South Belitung : Penyabong Beach

There aren’t many beach in south Belitung. Well it’s only one in fact. We went here after having our breakfast. It was a really long way to go here. We spent about 2 hours to arrive here. But what we like the most is you won’t find any un-paved road here in Belitung, unlike in Jakarta (quite weird right? A metropolitan city has worse road than a province)

Penyabong Beach

Penyabong Beach

Penyabong beach doesn’t have a clear water like what we found during our islands hopping. The water here is more deep blue colored and has bigger wave. Some people said that if the water here surge, then the water around Tanjung Kelayang would be calm and vice-versa.

Ah there is a restaurant by the sea that sell crabs. We got to eat there and the taste was quite good and the price was reasonable too.

Bukit Berahu Beach

Bukit Berahu Beach

Nothing really nice about this beach. To get to this beach you’ll need to go into a hotel called Bukit Berahu and walked down 90 stairs (the hell I couldn’t even believed I walked through it just to see a dull beach) Well, if you fancy a quiet beach with nothing but a small (I mean really small) swing, then you should visit this beach.

Belitung Traditional House

This one is near our hotel. There is a retribution fee, but you’re free not to pay. There are some things to see here, like LiuLiu (We didn’t take a photo of it), Belitung traditional bridal supplies, and many more.

Remember the scene on Laskar Pelangi where Lintang and his friends run through big granite stones? Here is the beach! Tanjung Tinggi Beach. Just walk around this big beach and strike a pose on those big granite stones.

The water here was very calm. We felt like swimming in a super big swimming pool. There is no wave at all. And this beach is also a great place to see sunset.
