ElsaSisters Goes to Belitung | Explore Belitung [Day 2]

MidSis and LilSis did some travelling to Belitung some weeks ago. Belitung or more known as Belitong by local people, started to get famous since novel based movie “Laskar Pelangi” a.k.a “The Rainbow Troops” (by Andrea Hirata) became such a hit back then. We decided to go there and do some exploring. Read our Day 1 story here.

A day had passed and we were then ready to do our second day exploring at Belitung. We could say that the second day was the most fun and memorable day there. If you’re wondering why, then take a look at this post! 🙂 P.S : This post is going to be photos heavy. We just couldn’t decide which photos should we share. All of them are just so worth sharing!

Tanjung Kelayang Beach

Tanjung Kelayang Beach

Tanjung Kelayang Beach : STARTING POINT

Early in the morning (well not that early, tho) we went to Tanjung Kelayang Beach to start our ISLANDS HOPPING! Our tour consultant told us to book a boat 2 weeks before, to avoid unwanted accident. So after getting some recommendation, our tour consultant helped us booked our boat. FYI, almost every boat in Belitung cost around 400k-500k depend on your boat’s owner. We got the best deal from our boat’s owner : 400k for a boat that fit up to 10 person. Well because we don’t have anybody to share the boat with, we could enjoy that big boat by ourselves 😉

Mr Rusdi inside the boat :)

Mr Rusdi inside the boat 🙂

Mr. Rusdi, our boat captain was a very nice person. After waiting for couple of minutes, our boat was ready. Oh, we need to rent a life vest too before sailing. It cost 10k per vest. Before sailing, Mr. Rusdi taught us how to use the life vest. After all the preps, we’re good to go

Our captain on Sand Island

Our captain on Sand Island

Sand Island

The first island we visited and the most impressing too. You’ll need to visit this small island (well actually it’s just a patch of sand) in the morning because there is a high possibility that this island would disappear in the afternoon because of the high tide.

By the way, did you spot what our captain was holding in the photo above? Yes! It’s a starfish 😀 Our nice captain dived into the water just to take some starfishes for us. Let me tell you, all the starfishes here are very big and some are colorful. Make sure you don’t miss the chance to hold those starfishes and take a photo or maybe much photos. But don’t forget to put them back.

If you notice, you could see that the water there was like crystal clear and calm. You could even walk around the island because the water is shallow and the wave isn’t big like in Bali.

Gigantic Granite Rock at Batu Belayar Island

Batu Belayar Island

Batu Belayar island is bigger than Sand Island but we could say that it also count as a small island. During the dry season, landing at this island is possible (like what we did), but if you visit this island during the rain season, the sandbar will be below the water level which make it impossible to land. Oh, there are also many granite rocks here. You could sit on it and pose like the rainbow troops 😉

Bird Island

Notice that granite outcrop? Well that’s why this island is called Bird Island. That big granite outcrop looks like a bird and want to know what’s more amazing? It happened to be like that naturally. When we arrive here, it is almost noon and we were quite thirsty. So our super nice captain treat each of us a coconut. Thankyou sir!

Lighthouse at Lengkuas Island

Lighthouse at Lengkuas Island

Lengkuas island

The most famous island among all islands here, in Belitung. You could easily spot this island due to its tall light house. This famous island is also the place to do snorkeling. FYI, you could rent the snorkeling tools from Mr Rusdi for 20k. Super cheap right? Believe me, you won’t regret snorkeling here as the view was just uh-ma-zing.

The entrance fee to the lighthouse cost 5k. LilSis and our father brace themselves and climb up that 65 meters light house. Well, all of our hard work was payed off by the great scenery we saw up there. If you have the guts, try to climb this light house. And do not worry as you could rest at the dock of each floors. (This lighthouse has 18 floors and 313 stairs)

Kepayung island

Our last stop. There is a restaurant here, but believe me. You won’t want to eat there as it is really overpriced. We visited this island just to see the turtle conservation. Too bad there was only some turtle there as the other had been released.

Nyiur Melambai Restaurant

We finished off our island hopping with eating. (Yes, eat everywhere!) Mr. Rusdi offer us to have our lunch at his restaurant. Yup, you hear me right. Beside working as a captain, he also own a restaurant by the beach. We ordered this 6 ounces pompano to be grilled. Taste delicious indeed, and the price was quite reasonable too 🙂

Cheese and Sesame Hoklopan, 40k

Hoklopan

In the night, we spent our time wandering around the town. While we were driving, we spotted some street vendors selling Hoklopan. For you who don’t know, hoklopan is martabak Bangka. The taste is the same like the classical martabak.

Btw, that Cheese and Sesame Hoklopan (40k) was mind blowing delicious! I’m not exaggerating but it’s true. Our tips are to buy hoklopan that is sold by local people and if you don’t like it to be too sweet, don’t mind to ask him/her to lessen the sugar.

Milk Tea, 10k

Milk Tea, 8k

Warung Kopi Ake
Jalan Kavling Senang 57

Not the fanciest coffee shop yet still delicious. They don’t own a pretty nor fancy cups, but the price was quite cheap. Ordered their Milk Tea for 8k and that was a steal! Taste real good, somewhat taste like Thai tea without the creamer. Btw, we don’t recommend their ovaltine as it was very sweet.

And soon after we filled our tummy with that delicious Hoklopan and some sip of milk tea, we head to our hotel and rest. Another fun things will be done the next day. We really enjoyed our second day in Belitung and the islands hopping thingies was something super cool. Let’s travel guys!
